Ho ho ho! or Bah Humbug?

Christmas is coming, an incontrovertable fact borne out by a growing stream of cards and goodies (sweets, biscuits and such) into the office from friends and clients of CVS. Dangerous stuff for the calory conscious, but it's affectingto get these tokens of appreciation. In fact, the most Christmas-cynical among us are succumbing to the seasonal spirit. Brrrr.

Thanks to everyone.

Sad Farewell

It is with great sorrow and regret that i ( amanda....the student!) finish my placement tomorrow (Friday) It has been a great 12 weeks full of learning, fun, coffee, cake and chocolate......mostly the latter. I would love to say i will spend the next six months utilising what i have learnt here but alas the time will instead be spent getting me on a sugar and caffeine replacement programme to detox.
I have enjoyed my time in CVS land and have been facinated by the crazy goings on of the voluntary sector....i'm mildly traumatised but will survive. I have great stories and one or two topical analogies to share with my classmates when i return to university in January.
I will mostly miss the teeny tiny office which seemed to burst at the seems with my arrival. I have never felt so welcomed and included as part of the team so quickly. Lee will no longer have to compete with me for title of "who is the messiest person" in the office and Linda's ears will no longer bleed when i accidentally utter the odd profanity at our supersonic speed computers, Donald will no longer have to listen to me witter on when the sugar rush peaks and Terry will no longer have such awesome tea and coffee facilities.
Marina has been a great influence to me in my time here and i have learned much from her such as the ability to get things done whilst maintaining a dignified air of professionalism. This woman is a rock to CVS land and i admire her greatly.
Goodbye, Farewell......i'll be in next week see you then

Christmas in CVS Land!!

Brrrrrr it is cold this morning!! 1st of December and the advent calendars are open. Day One of Operation Waist Expansion. Extra layers of blubber are well known throughout the animal kingdom as a vital means of insulation. After all 'tis the season to be freezin'.

Here in CVS world we are enjoying cold weather past times such as ice skating (this year will be taking place in our toilet due to our leaky sink), jogging on the spot while typing (to keep warm) and pass the office cardigan (too whoever is cold at the time).

Our old office was quite big and would have been impossible to decorate so it is it's great to be in our new office which has a shop front and may have room for a Bonsai Christmas tree. Certain people in our office want to decorate today but the conscensus (humbugs) is it is too early (Amanda step away from the Decorations box)!

Anyway, must go now it is my turn for the cardigan and the ice rink awaits.
